There’s A Travel App For That

There's an app for that. Best travel apps.

Thank goodness for technology. I don’t think I’d have nearly the same level of confidence I have today traveling solo if it were not for travel apps that can help ahead of my trips and on the spot.

Check out these travel apps to see how they can help you with both your domestic and international trips.

Mobile Passport

Why do you need this app? Mobile Passport Control allows you to expedite your time when entering the US Customs Border and Protection after an international trip. The last thing you want to do is stand in a long line after being on a plane for 15 hours. It is available to U.S. citizens/lawful permanent residents and Canadian visitors and can fast track you through 24 U.S. international airports and one sea port-of-entry.

Tripit

Why do you need this app? If you worry about not having all your details in one place, TripIt is a wonderful travel organizer. Tripit helps you keep the details of your trip organized in one location. TripIt also provides trip updates and alerts. It is particularly helpful when there are when there are flight departure gate changes or delays. If you’re a frequent business traveler and need records of your travel I’d recommend TripItPro which is available for purchase.

uber-and-lyft ride share appsUBERLYFT and Other Rideshare Apps

Why do you need a rideshare app? Uber now operates around the world, and while the in-app options vary from place to place, the general concept is the same everywhere. These ride-on-demand apps eliminate the need to carry local currency, speak the same language as your driver, and know local customs for tipping and haggling. The app charges your credit card the right amount so you don’t have to worry about getting ripped off by taxi scams. Be sure to research what other riding hailing apps operate in your destination. TIP: To overcome language barriers take a picture of the destination to communicate with drivers with whom you don’t speak the same language.

Save on your hotel - hotelscombined.com

Hotels Combined

Why do you need this app? Hotels Combined allows you to search, compare, book and save on hotels. I love using this travel app because I’ve stayed at some pretty remarkable hotels at very decent prices found on this site. This app is great for all types of travelers because there are a lot of properties that allow you to book now and pay later. And a lot of the listings have a cancellation policy up until a week before the trip dates in case you change your mind.
